Theera visarippu – only a thorough investigation reveals the truth

When I was a young boy, I heard this very old Tamil proverb: "கண்ணால் காண்பதும் பொய்; காதால் கேட்பதும் பொய்; தீர விசாரிப்பதே மெய்". The english transliteration reads as follows: "Kannal kanbathum poi, kathal ketpathum poi, theera visaripathe mei".

In essense, what it says is that your eyes and ears can be deceived and only a thorough investigation can reveal the truth.

This proverb rings true, now more than ever!
